The question that we are going to talk about today is the question that is not often asked, but rather in the forefront of all our minds: HOW DO I BREAK THROUGH TO THE NEXT LEVEL? Breakthrough to the next level in my business, in my health, in my marriage? You will find people are asking this question, because typically they are frustrated… because they have “tried it all.” Well, I am here to tell you, you haven’t tried it all. Because if you had, YOU WOULD HAVE BROKEN THROUGH TO THE NEXT LEVEL… But you might feel like you have tried it all.
The next level feels like the next level is just elusive and beyond our reach.
Here’s what I would say to you. How do you break through to the next level? Well, the breakthrough to the next level is not actually the outcome that you desire. The breakthrough comes because of your decision to do what is necessary to create that outcome. It’s not going from here to there.
The breakthrough happens in your mind, first. Once you say, I am committed to doing whatever it takes to get that outcome… and when you make that decision, THAT’S the breakthrough. You might not see it for quite a while, but make no mistake if you make that decision, that’s where your breakthrough happens.
Whatever it is it takes in order to get that outcome. What does that mean? The outcome that you desire is never going to be quick. It needs to be deep, sustainable growth that transforms you. It can transform your body, your business, your relationships… and more. That is a breakthrough to the next level kind of change that is not going to happen quickly.
Quick change happens through the compound effect. The Compound Effect is a great book by Darren Hardy. You should all read it. Another book that’s really similar is the Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. Both are really great reads. And here’s the premise: it is not quick results that get a breakthrough to the next level. It is small, consistent actions done over time is what gets a radical transformation and radical change.
What I want you to hear, loud and clear, is it’s going to happen differently than you think. And you must commit to the small actions, done consistently over time. Those three will get you radical, drastic transformation. Now, here’s the reality. This works, this principle. It works whether you want it to or not. And if you are not working in your favor, you may be working with it’s to your detriment, because if you do the wrong action, like having a bag of chips on the couch, like every night, or having a bowl of ice cream every night before you go to bed (cause it just tastes so good); there are going to be negative consequences. But if you take that small action and you do it consistently, and you do it over time you are going to get a drastic transformation.
It all adds up over time. If instead of the ice cream or the bag of chips, you said, I’m going to do 50 squats every night. If I want to get food, I’m going to jump up and do 50 squats. And you do that consistently, you will have buns of steel. Maybe you don’t want buns of steel, but if you apply this in your relationship, your business and other areas of your life; you will see change! This is what brings radical, drastic transformation.
I have 3 questions for you if you want to have a drastic transformation in your life:
And we are talking like the desire that is your destiny, your purpose, what you were created for; the value that you are going to bring to the world. This is the life that you want to create. Get crystal clear on the outcome that you desire and dream about. Journal about it. In fact, sit down today and set a timer for 15 minutes and just begin to brainstorm everything that you desire to create in your life.
Examples: I want to create this outcome in my health. I want this to be the outcome in my marriage. I want to create this specific outcome in my business. I want to have X number of clients, X amount of passive income, or X amount in retirement.
Get clear about the outcome.
The next level feels like the next level is just elusive and beyond our reach.
Make a Decision!
They don’t get you there overnight. They don’t get you there in seven days. They’re probably not going to get you there in 30 days. Maybe not in six months, but if you like seriously, if you just did a hundred pushups every day for the next 12 months, what’s your physique going to look like? If you began to have a team meeting with your team every week, or maybe with your sales team, had a 15 minute touch base meeting with your sales team every morning, for 15 minutes to set the course to touch base… How was that going to impact your business? How is that going to impact the number of sales in your business over the next 12 months?
You want a great book to help you with this question. The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan. This book gives you the focusing question: What is the one thing that by doing it, everything else becomes easier or even unnecessary because if you get the right thing, then everything else gets easier or unnecessary.
How can I turn those actions into habits that are sustainable? So how do I take, this is what I’ve identified. These are the most important actions. How can I turn those actions into habits? Because when you have habits, habits create success. Long-term habits create breakthroughs. That is how you level up.
It is not some magic potion. God just doesn’t drop it out of heaven. It is you getting clear about what you want, identifying the actions that get you close to that, and then turning those actions into habits because that will create sustainable growth, sustainable transformation in your life.
