- How do I find my Sweet Spot?
-
In my experience, I serve entrepreneurs and business owners from all over the country and all over the world. One of the BIG conversations I have, after people have started their businesses and are ready to take the leap… How Do I Scale My Business? And this comes after a whole lot of work; mindset, growth, burning the midnight oil. So, how do you take your business to the next level?
And this question often comes to us when we have been growing and growing and now we are feeling stagnant. Or maybe when you’re pushing so hard, but you’ve hit a plateau and you just can’t seem to break through to the next level. So whether you’re stagnant or pushing hard or can’t break through to the next level, you know you want to level up… let’s talk because when we want to scale up, it means greater revenue, greater impact, growing your team, all those different things.
So HOW? After starting my business five years ago, crossing over a million dollars in revenue, growing my team from zero to ten or eleven people (getting ready to add a whole other layer of people), served hundreds and hundreds of people… I’ve got some answers I am going to share on how to scale your business. And they might not be the answers you would expect.
I am like a broken record. You never get beyond growing and becoming the best version of yourself. And if you are going to get to the next level in your business, you’re not going to get there alone. I want to share a little illustration with you.
Have you heard about the NFL football team that won the Super Bowl and didn’t even have a coach?
NO. Because it doesn’t exist because champions have coaches… and in most cases, a whole team of coaches.
If you want to go where your vision is taking you, what you see could be, if you want to get there… You are going to have to level up your investment in you. That means paying for coaching. And for some of you that means paying for the next level of coaching. Some of you are in communities at a certain level, now it is time to join a community at a higher level. And then there are those of you that need to go beyond the investment of coaching, masterminds, and events. You need to level up your personal time, morning routine, your health, your fitness (Because energy is everything), your relationships… and you need to level up your investment in YOU.
This one is good. And I have been reading this book called The Alchemist. It is my fourth time going through it and every time I read it, it hits me in a different place and that’s because I am not the same person I was when I first read it. There is this idea in the book that really hits me… humans have the tendency to overcomplicate things. We think simple is too simple, because it couldn’t be that easy, right? If it was that easy, then everyone would do it. Actually in fact that is not true because people are too busy overcomplicating stuff and making it extremely complex. And skipping over the basics, the foundations, the simple things you cannot escape. And this is the point of number two…. actually all four of these points, these things are simple and you cannot escape if you want to scale your business to the next level.
You have got to find your WHOS. I would recommend Who Not How by Dan Solomon and Dr. Benjamin Hardy, get it and you will thank me later. Who Not How is one of those books that could change your life, your business… but you need to get your WHOS. Because some of you, if you’re a business owner, YOU SUCK AT LETTING GO (I love you AND I GET IT – Been there). When I expanded my business more, scaled it up, I have had to let a lot more things go and trust my team with stuff. And if I didn’t learn to let things go, my business could not go to the next level. Truthfully, I could be the greatest limiting factor to my business growing. I would be the bottleneck if I didn’t learn to or continue to learn to let things go.
Finding your whos with the right people, trustworthy people, people with the right skills, people with the right knowledge, people with the right experience because you can’t do it all.
Whatever level you’re at, you ask the question… How can I do it? How can I do this? I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that, put in extra hours, bust my tail… But that is not going to get you where you need to go. That might have gotten you to where you are at… but you’re not going to be able to scale your business by yourself. It is an impossibility.
SO FIND YOUR WHOS. Get serious about it. Stop messing around, stop making excuses. Like, Well, they’re not out there. Good people are hard to find. No. They are there and you just have to get intentional and serious about finding them.
I have a client that just hired a personal assistant that is probably going to result in optimizing him and his business to millions of dollars. Billions of additional revenue that will come into their company because he hired a right WHO and he got a good one.
Can’t remember who I first heard this from, but be willing to be a beginner again. That means you’ve got to be ready to learn. To learn new things, learn new strategies, learn from new people, learn new ways of doing things…. some of you are over here thinking, I’ve done this all organically and don’t like paid ads. But you can find a who to take care of those, know the basics.
Some of you have done everything for your company. And you are going to shift, have a new product offering, a new strategy to serve clients and it is going to be hard for you because you have learned to do it THIS WAY. But here’s what is going to change: you’re going to be able to add more value, serve others at a higher level… if you can be a beginner again.
Because if you think you have all the answers, you are not going to scale up.
This does kind of overlap with the section about finding your whos but you are going to need the right people in the right places. If you are not willing to learn and have the humility to say, I need some people that are going to help me get where I haven’t been yet… then you probably won’t scale your business.
I hired a new coach this year… and I also had a birthday and turned 45… my new coach that I hired just had a birthday and he is getting OLD. He is 22 and he’s a freaking rockstar. He’s a genius at doing some of the things that I need to do to scale my business. So you can’t just learn from the people you want to or what you might picture as older and more experienced. NO. No. no. I’m going to learn from people who are doing the stuff that I need no matter what their age because they have proven themselves and have proven results.
Don’t just hire people that don’t have results. Don’t go ask your broke uncle. ASK THE RIGHT PEOPLE and be humble enough to be a beginner again.
Lastly, if you want to scale your business, this is the thing you need to do. . . Adjust your thermostat and I’m not talking about the temp of your room. Let’s say you’ve built a business into a six figure business… WAY TO GO! And with that you have built a thermostat success that says I am a six figure business maker… that’s awesome but if you want to scale your business to $500,000 or a million, you aren’t going to do that if you have just a six figure mindset.
The psychology of a business owner will be the greatest determining factor of a business… the psychology of a business owner will be the greatest determining factor of a business… TONY ROBBINS
If the psychology of a business owner does not level up, the business cannot level up. Some of you, you have the best coaches, the best structure, maybe even the best products… BUT if you do not level up your mindset and adjust your thermostat a few degrees… you won’t be able to level up. Like if you set a thermostat to 70, if it gets warmer it will kick on and go back to 70 and when it gets colder, it will kick on and return to 70.
Like if you think about it, this is why some of you have plateaued. And you have these moments where you go up to 110,000 or 105,000 but it always seems to go back to 95,000 every other month. And it is because you are doing the right things but you have not adjusted your psychology. You haven’t begun to see yourself as more than 95,000 or 100,000… adjust that thermostat to have a million dollar months. Activate your imagination. Use repetition and strategies to rewire your subconscious mind.
It’s going to take time to do that, level up and adjust your thermostat.
If you want to scale your business… you do these four things, include some business structure, get your core values in your company and do some good hiring and stuff… you will go to the next level. If you get the right WHOS working for you and you do the work on you, the HOWS are going to take care of themselves. The details are going to take care of themselves. THese are the primary things if you want to scale your business… you’re going to be going to the next level, you’re going to scale up, and some of you are going to quantum leap to a whole other level.
That’s what I want for you, I want you to be successful! I want you to love your life and create an impact in other people’s lives.
I had lunch with my wife today, oh I love my wife. We’ve been married for 22 years and I had a little reflective movement… I was like, Hey babe, you remember when I was miserable in the work that I was doing on a daily basis and we kind of laughed about it. It came out because I was like… it has been such a busy day BUT I love what I do! I’m fulfilled in what I do… I’m making a difference in people’s lives and I want you to love your life! And that’s why I share with you these things and more no matter what level you are at, these tips will become more and more essential as you continue to level up.
And this is where we go out there and give our greatness to the world because somebody needs what is on the inside of you! Don’t hold back, give it away! Love you guys!
