- How do I find my Sweet Spot?

Who’s ready to get a little bit better today? One of the questions I get most often is, “Mark, I want to grow but how do you make time to grow, to invest time in the stuff that helps you grow, how do you have time for that?
So, let me break it down for you. I am going to give you Four ways that you can make time for the things that help you grow. These things will help you become the person you want to be and help you tap into the greatness on the inside of you.
Number one, it’s the biggest one. None of the other stuff works if you don’t do this first one.
Stop moaning and groaning that you don’t have time. Make a decision if you want to grow. You can make excuses, if you are okay with the life that you have. You don’t need to make a new decision if you are okay with the life you currently have.
If the life you have is not as fulfilling, satisfying, or impactful as you know it could be and you want something different, then you are going to have to do something different.
Ordinary people are okay with binge watching shows every night, mindlessly scrolling through social media… but you’re not ordinary, you want to be extraordinary.
So you have to make a decision, a decision by its very definition, by the very nature of it requires action. Some of you have said you want to grow, but you have never really made a decision. You have had this wish and a dream, this empty intention out there. But you had intension without action and a decision requires action.
I love the way Tony Robbins says, “Never leave the sight of a decision without first taking action.” So if you want to make time for the things that help your grow, it is time to draw a line in the sand and make a decision that says I will make time for the things that help me grow. Because once you make that decision, the rest is actually easy.
IT STARTS WITH A DECISION!
It is time to do the work. No more excuses. Time to do the work.
That means you use the in between spaces that were previously wasted in your life. So that commute you have, some of you currently listen to music or talk radio: is that helping you grow? No, but if you have shifted.
Think it was Jim Rohn or Zig Ziglar, they would talk about having an automobile university. You need to enroll in an automobile university and now we get to take that wherever we go, because we always have our phone in our pocket and our ear buds in our ears. So we can learn and grow anywhere we go.
N.E.T. time for me; everytime I am in the car driving, I’m listening to something: a book. Audio book, youtube, a podcast. I am always listening to something and I use that time to grow. Folding laundry, I’m listening to something. If I am getting out of my car into the office, while I am getting set up, take a break in the day… I already have my earbuds in… I am a click away from growing. BOOM, there is no extra time in my life.
I am maximizing all those in between spaces! Because if some of you if you just took this one thing as an action point, you could go through a book a week. You can use that in between time to begin to grow to a whole ‘nother level! A four hour audio book… if you had 30 minutes of in between time, it really isn’t going to take that long to get through that.
Remember, first you have to make a decision.
A morning routine can enhance the most precious hours of the day. Some of you might be saying, I already have a routine… I get up, I brush my teeth, get dressed, and then go to work. Most of you, it is not that…I rush out of bed, rush to brush my teeth… I rush, rush, rush. Listen, if you just woke up just a little bit earlier, and began to have a routine that is not about getting ready for the day as much as it is about filly you up, setting the tone.
If you elevate your morning, you will elevate your life. Win the morning, win the day! The morning can set the tone for everything else. And if you have the guts, the commitment to say I am going to wake up two hours earlier… it is a big deal to say I am going to get up at 7:30 and I am going to read for 30 minutes. Now, personally, I am up between five and six everyday. Because that time is untouched by my kids wanting something, my wife wanting something, my boss wanting something, my clients wanting something.
That time is precious to me: I use that time to read, to grow, to journal, to do my personal affirmations, to do my visualization, and to do some meditation. All these things help me grow, help me become the best version of myself. So if you don’t have anytime, you can always create a morning routine that beats everyone else up… it is protected time.
If you don’t have time to do the things that help you grow… You need to schedule that time. If you don’t schedule it, it is not going to happen. So you need to look ahead and schedule. I’m talking about scheduling events that you are going to go to… or maybe even virtually… schedule events to participate in, schedule lunches with the people who fill your tank and make you better, schedule coffee; do those kinds of things. But also schedule personal retreat days, where you can say you know what, once a month I am going to get away for six hours or more and I am just going to look inward. I am going to evaluate my business, I am going to refine my goals, so that I can move forward and do what I need to do.
If you can’t schedule it, it is not going to happen. You’ve go to schedule the things that are most important to you. So look ahead.
If you don’t want to be the best version of you, if you just want to be mediocre and maintain the status quo, you don’t have to do anything I am talking about… BUT if you are ready to tap into that greatness, like to take back your power, then it is time for you to do something that you haven’t done before.
You do have the time.
Now you’re just one decision away.
You can make that decision right now.
What are you going to do today?
It’s not about what I hold you accountable to… It’s about you holding yourself accountable, and keeping promises to yourself.
And you can do it.
There’s greatness on the inside of you. Go and give that greatness to the world!
