Let’s talk about a daily commitment that increases my growth everyday because if you are not GROWING, you’re dying. You could also say… if you are not learning, you start dying… or… if you stop growing, you’re old whether you are 20 or 80. Today, let’s keep growing by learning a bit so we don’t get old! The question we are going to focus on has to do with my morning routine; meditation, journaling, affirmations, and visualization. What’s the big deal about visualization?
First of all, here’s why people ask this question, like how does it work? They get an image of someone sitting and meditating going mmmmmm, mmmmm… but really, HOW DOES IT WORK? I’m not going to do a metaphysics lesson today. In the book I just co-authored, there is literally a whole chapter about the physics of creation. I will probably do a deeper dive into that in a future blog but literally point number one…
- Our Thoughts Create
Our thoughts create energy, our words create energy. Your thoughts create energy in the form of vibrations that go through space. Our minds have power and our thoughts create. I just read recently that you cannot think one thing and produce another.
Let me illustrate this with a recent walk I went on with my dog. We were going through the neighborhood and there’s a house with a nice lawn and a door sign that says WELCOME. Then they have another sign on the garage that says NO TRESPASSING in black and red. Let me ask you what they are creating!?! They are in conflict with themselves: Welcome and No Trespassing is sending mixed messages. People probably aren’t going to feel welcome there because words have power and you cannot speak one thing and get another. Maybe someday I will knock on their door and tell them that… but probably not because of the mixed messaging.
And when we recognize and acknowledge the fact that we don’t take our thoughts lightly because they have creative force in them… they are really important.
- Imagination is the Image of Your Destination
Your imagination, the images that you put in your head will literally be a projection of the future image of your destination. Your mental picture is what determines your future. So if you have a positive image, you’re going to have a positive future. And if you have a negative image in your mind, you’re going to create a negative destination. It’s the mental picture that determines your future.
And you don’t need me to prove that to you because you’ve lived it out. I;ve seen the power of your thoughts, the power of your words… and so when we visualize and we make it up, discipline a practice, we are saying I’m going to harness the power of my thoughts. I’m going to harness the power of my imagination instead of allowing fears be the image in my mind, things not working out, relationships not working out, checks bouncing… instead I’m going to be in a place intentionally where I am creating and imagining the best for my future.
- Imagination is a Force for Accomplishment in our Lives
I love that word: Force. There’s a proverb that I love that says, As a man thinks, so is he… it is a creative force released through our thoughts and through our imagination.
A quick little illustration of that is I am sure everyone here knows someone who has some kind of generational illness in their family. And there are those who have congestive heart failure in their family or they have a family history of fatal strokes. And so the son might grow up hearing his father say, “Grandpa died from a stroke… I’ve always been scared I am going to die from a stroke.” And guess what happens. The dad dies from a stroke. And then the son, what does he say? He says, “Gosh, grandpa died from a stroke, dad died from a stroke… I’m probably going to die young and from a stroke, too.”
This young man’s imagination created a mental picture for their future whether it was for good or bad. I’ll give you a real life illustration of that. I was just on a call with a client the other day. And he is currently in the midst of a very lucrative, large financial deal creating a fund and investing in all these things: Millions of Dollars. And in passing he said, I always knew I was going to get into finance. He even tried when he was younger to get a job at the bank… then he realized he had to do some schooling and training and he said, Nah, I’m good… because he knew he was always going to be invited.
He created a mental picture of success in finance in a big way and now that is what he’s experiencing.
What is the picture in your mind? How are you releasing your imagination as a force to accomplish exactly what you desire in your life?
So add a bit of visualization into your morning routine and test it out. Your morning routine is the opportunity to set up your day… I’ve done videos and blogs on it before… filling your mind with the right thing everyday so that you can begin to think, begin to imagine your best life one day at a time. There’s a book I recommend by Joe Dispenza called Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself. It taught me a lot about not just seeing it, but feeling it when you are doing visualizations. Start small with things that don’t utilize your whole future visitation, but start with visualizing a date with your spouse, adding to your lifts at the gym and in the moments of visualization, I’m feeling. Imagining that next benchmark in your business… whatever it might be. Start with things you can begin to visualize and feel that are shorter term and you will see the power and the force of your imagination through visualization.
I challenge you to do it everyday. And feel free to follow me on LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube, and Facebook: Mark T. Keene.
